وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
“And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me” Surat Adh-Dhāriyāt, verse 56.
Any school ultimately aims at preparing students for life and all the challenges associated with this journey. But what is the purpose of this life? Reflecting on the above ayah from the Holy Quran, our purpose is to Worship, Know, and Love our Creator (SWT).
Therefore our mission is simple, and it is to prepare students to fulfill this most noble purpose of Worshiping, Knowing, and Loving Allah (SWT) through not only knowing information, but practicing what they know until ultimately becoming men and women that fulfill or at least struggle to fulfill their purpose of existence. This is repeated in simple terms by our students when asked “Why are we here in school today?” They state: “To Make Allah (SWT) happy.”
ISOM strives to nurture and develop Muslim children into becoming academically strong individuals who will contribute positively to their community. We place great emphasis on Tarbiyah and Akhlaq (Islamic upbringing and character) of our students.
We serve the intellectual and spiritual needs of students by using a combination of the traditional approaches in Islamic education extending back to the time of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as well as highly regarded modern educational best practices.
Allah (SWT) has made us responsible to save ourselves and our families from the fire. We must take all the steps necessary to ensure the security of our family’s iman and akhlaq. Our children spend close to a third of their day in school. There is no concern to foster and build their faith in public schools. In fact, they are in constant danger by being exposed to activities and concepts which are wrongful in Islam. As parents, we need to provide our children with an institution that focuses on protecting and enhancing their faith while giving them the skills and knowledge to excel in the field of their choice. The Islamic School of Miami is striving to be that institution.
